LCBO Vintages Release
The Baigorri Crianza Rioja Alavesa DOCa is a top-notch example of how a younger Rioja can still be as juicy and complex as its older brother, the ‘Reserva’. Using hand-picked Tempranillo, Grenache and other local varietal grapes from the vineyards in the Rioja DOCa, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks to ensure the purity of the fruit in a state-of-the-art wine making facility. The newly fermented juice then underwent pressing in a pneumatic press for around 10 days for optimal colour and flavour extraction. Finally, the wine was then transferred to a combination of French and American oak barrels and aged for around 14 months.
The care and expertise with which the team at Baigorri put into this Crianza shows in the glass. The ruby colour tantalizes the eye while the nose is drawn in with notes of violets, black and red fruits, baking spices and vanilla. The palate is then awakened with a good level of acidity while complex flavours of red fruit and spice dance around the mouth ending in a long, velvety finish. This is a Crianza that shows how younger wines also deserve their time in the spotlight.”
“Curious red with dried berry, light raisin and floral character, and just a hint of green. Follows through to a full body and firm, silky tannins. Drink now.”

“Warm, cinnamon-spiced nose, strawberry and raspberry notes over toasty vanilla oak. Complex palate, spicy brambly fruit, crisp tannins and a lovely, crunchy long cherry raspberry finish.
