The Priorat Mountains in northeast Spain are a harsh environment. Priorat’s wines play with a delicate balance between structure and lush fruit. GinéGiné is Buil & Giné’s first wine. If you’re new to the wines of Priorat, it is an excellent place to start. It captures the region’s essence. The winery’s vines here, most over 30 years old, are rooted deep in the craggy, dark local llicorella slate soil, rich in minerals from the Palaeozoic era. Grapes were fermented and macerated by variety and vineyard, then blended before coupage and bottling.
A red wine with the ripe bouquet characteristic of Priorat Grenache and Carignan, fruit and minerality in tandem. GinéGiné is incredibly versatile. The winemaker likes to call it “A wine for all seasons”. It pairs well with with an array of flavours: aromatic herbs, chiles, warm spices, sweet-tart balsamic vinegar, robust meat, and oily fish.
