Buil & Giné “Joan Giné” DOQ Priorat 2012

joan gine priorat
Spain Priorat
Cabernet and Cabernet Blends
Type: Red Table Wine
Vintage: 2012

“The 2012 ‘Joan Giné’ is an intriguing contrast to the 2011 edition of this wine. This compelling wine starts with aromas of black cherry, coffee grounds, red currant and black tea. There are flavours of black cherry, spicebox, and anise, with hints of cassis and Earl Grey tea. This is restrained but the minerality is bright, as this has a considerably darker fruit profile than the 2011 bottling and is done in a more masculine style. Somewhat less approachable now than the ’11, this also will be a long ager. Give this at least a year before consuming. This is some really nice value out of Priorat.”

92 points, International Wine Report, May 2016

“An evolved nose of oak, leather and vegetable juices. The palate is full bodied with ripe dark berries, sweet spice and an almost coriander or garam masala twist, leading on to a finish of ripe tannin.”

90 points + Gold Medal, Decanter World Wine Awards, 2016

“Intense crimson. Expressive nose combining black fruits with balsamic and spice notes. Concentrated palate with firm tannins. A structured, balanced and persistent wine which will improve even more with age.”
