LCBO Vintages Release
Fruit for Cannonball’s 2016 Chardonnay was sourced from vineyards around Sonoma County. The wine fermented and aged in an even mix of French oak and stainless steel, and malolactic influence was kept to a minimum. The result is a wonderfully balanced wine that is easy to love. Cannonball has opted for a style with delicacy and finesse over structure and intensity.
The nose of this wine will grab you from the get-go: complex and racy notes pineapple, vanilla, and honeysuckle grounded by a creamy minerality. The rich profile continues on the palate with delicate melon and citrus flavours. The finish is long and bright.
The 2016 is a new vintage, a fresh release for the summer of 2017. The previous vintage available from the LCBO was the 2014, which received the following:
“Made in an approachable style, light-bodied and yet showing an attractive level of richness, there’s melon, oak and honey at this wine’s core, accented by pretty floral notes of apple blossom and pie.”
88 points and “Editor’s Choice”, Wine Enthusiast, August 2016
“Rich and delicious with inviting fresh fruit flavors, soft oak and balanced acidity.”
“Best Buy”, World Wine Championships, April 2016
“The 2014 Chardonnay gives a good intensity of ripe peach, golden delicious apples and allspice notes with a hint of toast. Medium bodied, it offers a pleasantly oily texture with plenty of ripe stone fruit flavors, finishing with good, uncomplicated length and balance. Great value!”
