Château Mire L’Etang’s wines are remarkable for their sense of place. It is a simple pleasure: a wine that captures the essence of traditional varietals grown in the stony, limestone-rich soils of the La Clape Massif foothills, bathed in Mediterranean sunlight and cool maritime breezes. Little-known outside of France, the winery is held in high regard by France’s Guide Hachette and has been awarded the Coup de Coeur, the publication’s highest recommendation.
This is a saignée method rosé, in which a quantity of juice is “bled” off of macerating Syrah and Grenache after a short period of skin contact. A beautiful pale pink colour with soft warm, tones, giving off aromas of sun-ripened summer fruit: Cherries, strawberries, and raspberries. Underneath lie the dusty mineral and wild herb notes of the Mediterranean countryside. A particularly welcoming wine, full and round on the palate.
