Domaine Huet’s nine hectare Le Haut Lieu vineyard, characterized by deep clay-rich soil, is known for its supple wines. (An understatement, frankly: this is one of the best vineyards in the Vouvray appellation.) Like all of Huet’s vineyards, it is planted entirely to Chenin Blanc and has been managed according to biodynamic principles for over 25 years.
On the Vouvray hillside, at the confluence of oceanic and continental climates, the Haut-Lieu vineyard yields Chenin Blanc with a pure expression of terroir. The meticulous sorting done at the beginning of the harvest ensures the purity of each cuvée and the best expression of the site.
Le Haut Lieu Sec is a favourite amongst wine connoisseurs the world over. The nose is pure, fresh and chalky, with florals and green citrus. On the palate it is full-bodied, ripe yet minerally. The palate is powerful yet elegant and fine, tense and nervy.
