Domaine Luquet’s vineyards, which average 50 years of age, are situated in a natural amphitheatre that captures warmth and sunlight. At this age, the vines produce less fruit than in their youth, but that limited yield is supremely complex, concentrated, and balanced.
Fruit is harvested by hand and vinified in stainless steel. This Pouilly-Fuissé is a rich, generous wine, emerald-tinted gold in colour. The alkaline limestone soils of the Mâconnais sing through in a harmonious bouquet with notes of hazelnuts, toasted almonds, and ripe stone fruit. This is a full-blown, opulent Burgundian Chardonnay that will age well for six years.
“The vigorous nose is a cocktail of mango, melon, stone fruits, oatmeal and apple blossom. Rich and voluptuous in the mouth, it has a crisp edge of citrus and floral notes. This needs a bit more time to fully integrate, but is showing its potential form.”
