LCBO Vintages Release
With the 2015, Paul Hobbs presents a classic rendering of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. This is a rich yet bright wine that brings together fruit from some of the region’s best growers: Katherine Lindsay Estate, Goldrock Ridge Vineyard, Schell Ranch Estate, Gap’s Crown, Fraenkle-Cheshier, and Donna Margarita.
The 2015 growing season began in late winter due to unseasonably warm temperatures leading to an early bud break. It was an exceptionally long growing season. Overall, yields were lighter than average with small cluster and berry size as a result of coller temperatures during bloom and the third consecutive year of drought in northern California. The resulting wines possess great site specificity and depth, with concentrated flavours, wonderful balance, and round textures.
Hand-harvested fruit, picked at night when a chill hangs in the air, was hand-sorted while still cool from the field. Following a five-day cold soak, the wine was fermented with a small quantity of whole bunches in open-top stainless steel tanks by indigenous yeast. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurred after the wine was racked to barrels. The wine spent 11 months total in French oak (44% new) before it was bottled, unfined and unfiltered.
A classic rendering of Russian River Valley Pinot, this wine is a dark cherry hue, with aromas of black cherry and bright strawberry. Rich, dark fruit dominates the palate, with accents of red fruit and complex undertones of white pepper and nutmeg. The fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity add layers and tension, accentuating the flavours and velvety mouthfeel.
“Lots of plum and blueberry character with hints of wet earth. Black tea notes. Full body, rich and flavorful. So much going on here. Pretty now but better in 2019.”

“A gorgeous appellation-level wine, the 2015 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) is plush and inviting, with plenty of vintage 2015 richness coming through. Succulent black cherry, plum, licorice and lavender are front and center. Silky tannins add to the wine’s supple feel and overall immediacy.”

“Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir offers a profoundly fruity nose of black cherries, mulberries and black raspberries with hints of cinnamon stick, underbrush and Provence herbs. Medium-full in body, rich, plush and oh-so-juicy, this wine delivers mouth-filling blackberry satisfaction with a lively herbal lift.”
