This 100% Lagrein presents a deep garnet red colour with a delicate bouquet showing the cherry and violet notes characteristic of the varietal. Subtle wood tones complement its full, round fruit flavours. Compact tannins and a bright acidity carry this traditional South Tyrolean wine through to its long finish. This is a resolutely versatile red, food-friendly and easy to pair with grilled or braised meat, game, or hard, nutty cheeses.
Fruit comes from south-east facing hillside vineyards up to 50 years old in Entiklar and Kurtatsch, hillsides composed of chalk-gravel moraines left behind by retreating glaciers. Macerated and fermented in stainless steel, the wine spent malolactic fermentation and 8 months aging in oak casks.
