Consider: A Pinot Grigio with beauty and brains. Tiefenbrunner has consistently crafted our favourite Pinot Grigios. No one-note citrus-heavy lightweight here. From a fifth-generation northern Italian producer, this is a classic wine with substance, structure, and style. Grapes come from the vineyards on the chalk-gravel moraine of Kurtatsch and sandy alluvial plains of Margreid. No wallflower, this pale straw wine shows pretty aromas of honeysuckle and white peach which delight the nose. Zingy fresh apple, pineapple, and orange zest are offered on the palate, with an element of bitter almond layered into the long finish. The fruit exhibits a wonderful impression of ripeness throughout. A fragrant, mouthwatering, rich wine that maintains good poise.
“A terrific vintage for Tiefenbrunner’s region-leading pinot grigio, this 2015 is full, very ripe and succulent, comfortably in the orchard/pitted fruit spectrum, quite oily and satisfying without heaviness. Very good to excellent length, with lovely suave texture. Far superior to the mean.”
