Tr3smano’s “Vendimia” brings together Tempranillo from vineyards in three distinct subzones of the Ribera del Duero’s “Golden Mile”. Some of Spain’s most iconic wineries are found in this 15 kilometre stretch, including Vega Sicilia, Bodegas Aalto, and Dominio de Pingus, and more. Tr3smano’s vineyards lie above the river banks at 850 metres above sea level: 30 hectares of gnarled, low-yielding vines ranging from 35 to 80 years old. The continental climate, characterized by considerable swings in temperature from summer to winter and day to night, results in elegant, structured wines with bright acidity and nicely integrated tannin structure. This is a prime example of the DO’s best from one of its rising stars – from an excellent vintage, too.
The winery is incredibly selective in its harvesting and winemaking practices. Only fruit of the highest quality is accepted, and only the best lots are bottled. Bunches are harvested by hand in small boxes to avoid crushing the berries. Grapes were cold-macerated for five days prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks to encourage the expression of bright fruit flavours. The wine was transferred to new oak barrels (75% French, 25% American) for malolactic fermentation, where it matured for 18 months.
Bright cherry red in colour, the nose is concentrated and complex, with ripe red fruit, toast, smoke, cocoa, and pepper spice. Those notes carry on to the palate, with balanced acidity and persistent, silky tannins.

“The 2014 Tr3smano is pure Tempranillo aged in new French and American (20%) oak barrels for 18 months, as this is the first vintage produced and they decided to discard the existing barrels in this wine. It’s very ripe and oaky, with a core of blueberries, blackberries and cranberries. It’s quite powerful and extracted, very oaky with spicy and toasty flavors, plenty of tannins and a slight bitterness in the finish. This is quite end-of-the-1990s-styled, with glossy fruit and oak, and moderate acidity. It develops more and more toasty aromas with time in the glass, more balsamic and smoky. It might need more time in bottle. 25,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2016.”
