Château Anthonic, founded in the late 1800’s, was purchased by the Cordonnier family in 1977. Categorized as a Cru Bourgeois in 1932 and re-confirmed in 2003, the estate is situated on well-drained clay-limestone and gravel soils. The majority of the vines in production today are approximately 20 years of age. Merlot dominates the blend, providing body and richness, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc contributing the tannins and aromatics.
The style is quite massive for a wine dominated by Merlot and a two hour decant of any vintages less than seven years old is recommended to amplify the aromatics and soften the mouthfeel.
