Château Mire L’Etang’s wines are remarkable for their sense of place. It’s a simple pleasure: a wine that captures the essence of traditional varietals grown in the stony, limestone-rich soils of the La Clape Massif foothills, bathed in Mediterranean sunlight and cool maritime breezes. Little-known outside of France, the winery is held in high regard by France’s Guide Hachette and has been awarded the Coup de Coeur, the publication’s highest recommendation.
An inviting blend of Grenache and Syrah with structure and bold flavour to spare. Deep, brilliant ruby red to the eye with a complex nose of garrigue and red fruit. Firm and silky on the palate with a powerful, spicy finish. It would be a dire mistake to over-think wine pairing here. That being said, it would be impossible to go wrong with an assortment of charcuterie, red meat, game, and hard cheese.
