Type: Red Table Wine
Vintage: 2016

Located in the heart of the Sonoma Coast, CrossBarn is an innovative winery led by renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs. Dedicated to crafting wines of stunning quality and exceptional value, his approach combines sustainable vineyard practices and traditional technique. These sophisticated yet approachable wines focus on the expression of California’s most celebrated AVA’s, including Napa Valley for Cabernet.

Produced using hand-harvested fruit picked at night when the berries are cool, CrossBarn’s Napa Cabernet is a showcase for some of the valley’s best vineyards. Fermented by native yeast, fruit macerated for nearly a month. Following 20 months maturation in French and American oak (14% new), the final blend comprises 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the remainder small quantities of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.

Presenting an opaque purple colour and expressive aromas of red currant, ripe blackberry, and mocha, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals the complexity and diversity of the famed region. Layers of fresh blueberry, dried leaf, and cardamom spice emerge on the palate alongside graphite and notes of minerality. Polished tannins and a round mouthfeel evolve into a long, energetic finish.

“Medium to deep garnet-purple coloured, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley features vibrant notions of crushed wild blueberries, black cherries and cassis with touches of cigar box, black tea and wild sage. Medium to full-bodied with a full frame of ripe, grainy tannins, it has seamless freshness laced through the energetic fruit, finishing long and juicy.”
