Located in the heart of the Sonoma Coast, Crossbarn is an innovative winery led by renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs. Dedicated to crafting wines of stunning quality and exceptional value, his approach combines sustainable vineyard practices and traditional technique. These sophisticated yet approachable wines focus on the expression of California’s most celebrated AVA’s, including Napa Valley for Cabernet.
Produced using hand-harvested fruit picked at night when the berries are cool, Crossbarn’s Napa Cabernet is a showcase for some of the valley’s best vineyards. Fruit macerated for nearly a month following fermentation by native yeast, then spent roughly 20 months maturing in French oak (mostly old).
Opaque purple, with notes of red currant, blackberry, and mocha, this a bold, rich Cabernet with all of the complexity we’ve come to expect from the famed Napa Valley AVA. Polished tannins and a round mouthfeel lead to a long, energetic finish.
“This is a really excellent Crossbarn with beautiful currant and savoury character. Hint of menthol. Full-bodied, round and flavourful. Yet, it’s not overdone. Ready to drink! Tastes like a Napa Cab for double the price. Drink now or hold.”

“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Crossbarn comes from the superstar winemaker Paul Hobbs and is a solid value in 2017 Napa Valley Cabernet. Upfront violets, plums, exotic spices, and orange blossom notes all emerge from this expressive, medium to full-bodied, plush effort that has lots of charm. It has the vintage’s slightly firm tannins yet should keep nicely for 7-8 years, if not longer.”

“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, supple and easygoing – all qualities that make it a good choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Sweet red cherry and plum abound in this juicy wine with plenty of forward, plump fruit and no hard edges. Most of the fruit is from Paul Hobbs’s Nathan Coombs and Broken Rock estates. This is very nicely done. 2019-2027.”

“Medium to deep garnet-purple in colour, 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley leaps from the glass with vivacious Morello cherries, black raspberries and redcurrants scents followed by wafts of sandalwood, spice cake and camphor with a touch of dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, the softly textured palate bursts with juicy red and black berry flavors, finishing with great freshness.”
