Tenute Falezza’s Amarone della Valpolicella is their “King of Wines”. Grapes are harvested by hand, and only the best bunches are selected for this wine. However, fermentation does not begin until Winter is well underway. The grapes are first left to dry on wooden racks for 90 days, concentrating their flavour and colour. In January, vinification of the dried grapes takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by 30 months of maturation in large-format oak barrels.
The resulting wine is deep red in colour, with intense aromas and concentrated flavours of red berries and spice. Dry, full-bodied and well-structured it’s excellent to drink now, but can keep for many years.
“Corvina (50 %), Corvinone (20 %), Rondinella (20 %), Oseleta (10 %): Deep amber hue. Complex nose, mild spices, mocha, dried fruits, Havana wood. Splendid, powerful, heady palate which confidently unfolds its rich palette. Exotically and fully flavoured, a splendid wine which is almost at its peak.”
