The Falezza family dubs their Amarone the “King” of their wines. As traditional with Amarone, grapes are harvested by hand in the fall, but fermented when winter is well underway. Following harvest, bunches dry on wooden racks for 90 days, concentrating flavour and colour. In January, the bunches are vinified in stainless steel tanks, then matured for 30 months in large oak barrels.
The singular intensity and concentration of Amarone can be intimidating and a challenge to pair. Tenute Falezza’s Amarone is remarkable for its freshness and balance. This is a food-friendly Amarone that you’ll find yourself coming back to over the course of a meal. Deep red in colour, with intense aromas and concentrated flavours of red berries and spice. Dry, full-bodied and well-structured, it’s excellent to drink now, but would be a welcome addition to any cellar.
“Corvina (50%), Corvinone (20%), Rondinella (20%), Oseleta (10%): Deep amber hue. Complex nose, mild spices, mocha, dried fruits, Havana wood. Splendid, powerful, heady palate which confidently unfolds its rich palette. Exotically and fully flavoured, a splendid wine which is almost at its peak.”
