LCBO Vintages Release
Consider: a Pinot Grigio with beauty and brains. No one-note citrus-heavy lightweight here. Fifth-generation northern Italian producer Tiefenbrunner has consistently crafted some of our favourite Pinot Grigio. This is a classic wine with substance, structure, and style. Grapes come from the vineyards on the chalk-gravel hillside moraine of Kurtatsch and sandy alluvial plains of Margreid and Cortina. The wine ferments in stainless steel, then rests sur lie for four months.
No wallflower, this pale straw wine shows pretty aromas of honeysuckle and white peach which delight the nose. Zingy fresh apple, pineapple, and orange zest are offered on the palate, with an element of bitter almond layered into the long finish. The fruit exhibits a wonderful impression of ripeness throughout. A fragrant, rich wine with beautiful poise.
The 2018 vintage has yet to be reviewed, but the 2017 received the following:
“This balanced, light-bodied white offers a lively mix of peach, passion fruit, floral and pink grapefruit zest notes, with tangy acidity and a floral finish. Drink now through 2021. 25,800 cases made.”
