An elegance and depth that became an emblem of Barolo wine in the world: this is the trait of Serra vineyard, as prominent as its hosting land, one of the highest in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba. At an average altitude of 380 m above sea level, distinguishable to the eye by its limestone, off-white soil, our sunny hectare of property towers over the surrounding area.

The dense tannins supporting the balsamic weave of Barolo Serra Giovanni Rosso are now recognizable on the palate by critics around the world, despite the small dimensions of the cru, a niche relegated to the most refined drinkers. A structured, complex wine.

“Hay and camphor aromas shade the core of cherry and berry fruit, along with loam, leather, tobacco and juniper accents. This is racy and tense, with energy and balance, followed by a long, resonant finish. Needs time. Best from 2023 through 2043.”
94 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, March 2019

“All Rosso’s top Barolo crus are in Serralunga and they are aged traditionally. The nose is lean, perky, and piquant, with cranberry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied but vivacious, and the wine has fine clarity of fruit riding over the formidable tannins. It’s almost out of balance yet it seems to work, thanks to the zest on the mid-palate and finish. Stylish and long.”
