Château de Pibarnon

Perched high above the Mediterranean in the hills of Bandol, Château de Pibarnon is one of Provence’s most distinctive and celebrated estates. The modern story of Pibarnon began in 1977, when Henri and Catherine de Saint-Victor discovered the estate and immediately recognized its potential. At the time, the property was remote and demanding to farm, but the Saint-Victor family saw something extraordinary in its altitude, exposition, and soils. Over the decades, they transformed Pibarnon into one of the benchmark names of Bandol, a region already famous for producing some of France’s most age-worthy and characterful Mediterranean wines. Today, the estate is led by Éric de Saint-Victor, who continues the family’s work with a focus on precision, elegance, and terroir expression.

Bandol is the spiritual home of Mourvèdre, and Château de Pibarnon has become one of the grape’s great interpreters. The estate’s vineyards sit at over 300 metres in elevation, among the highest points in the appellation. This altitude, combined with cooling Mediterranean influence, helps preserve freshness in a warm Provençal climate. Pibarnon is also known for its rare Trias soils: mineral-rich, water-retentive soils that allow the vines to thrive even in dry years.
