Château Mentone

Provence

Located in Provence in the village of Saint Antonin, Château Mentone is in the heart of a region where wine production is profoundly influenced by the interplay of soil and climate. Their 30-hectare Certified Organic vineyard has exceptional soil and climate that encourages grapes to mature late, bringing finesse and elegance to white and rosés.

The origins of Château Mentone’s vineyards, created by the Perrot de Gasquet family, date back to the 1840s. In 2003, Marie-Pierre Caille took over the reins of Château Mentone, whose vineyards are among the oldest in the Côtes de Provence appellation. She immediately set out restoring the vines, and modernizing winemaking production to implement standards of excellence, while maintaining as many of the historic plots as possible.

Château Mentone’s vineyard is between 240 and 300 m of altitude. The soil has a permeable pebble and clay-limestone base while the climate is continental. In order to prioritize quality rather than quantity, they limit their production to average yields of 35hl/ha, enabling grapes to create the perfect expression of their healthy, natural and historical terroir.
