Peregrine Wines

Central Otago

If Peregrine has a hallmark, it would be the quest for quality. It’s a reasonable quest, considering the enviable raw materials available to the winery. Peregrine is named in honour of New Zealand’s endemic falcon. Their wines are Certified Organic and vegan.

Set in the Gibbston Valley, which follows a gorge through the rugged mountains of the South Island’s Central Otago region, this privately-owned winery is in the heartland of intense, concentrated Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. From the innovative design of the modern winery (a marvel, frankly) to vineyard management, every effort is made to operate sustainably.

Two generations of the McLachlan family, Lindsay and son Fraser, are involved in all aspects of the winery. They source hand-picked fruit from 11 sites around the Lowburn, Bendigo, and Gibbston sub-regions of Central Otago. Since their first vintage in 1998, premium Pinot Noir has been a focus, although it would be a shame to ignore their excellent Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. In its short history, the winery has been lauded by critics and earned considerable praise.
