Tenuta Fratini

Tenuta Fratini is one of the exciting new names in Bolgheri, but its roots in this prestigious stretch of the Tuscan coast run deep. Founded in 2016, the estate marks the Fratini family’s return to a region that has long shaped their wine story. Their connection to Bolgheri began in 1999, when the family helped establish Tenuta Argentiera alongside the Antinori family, building what would become one of the appellation’s most important estates. After Argentiera was sold in 2016, the Fratini family soon returned to Bolgheri with a renewed vision: to create a small, ambitious estate focused on precision, elegance, and the expressive power of hillside vineyards.

Located close to the Mediterranean and planted across elevated sites that rise from roughly 50 to 300 metres above sea level, Tenuta Fratini benefits from a rare combination of coastal freshness, Tuscan sunlight, and altitude-driven finesse. The vineyards are planted primarily to Bordeaux varieties, including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, the grapes that have helped define Bolgheri’s modern identity.

Careful vineyard mapping, thoughtful site selection, hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentations, and refined oak ageing all point to a producer intent on crafting wines of depth, polish, and personality. The resulting wines are dark-fruited, savoury, structured, and seductive, yet lifted by freshness and a sense of place.
