Vina Aquitania

Tucked into the foothills of the Andes in Chile’s Maipo Valley, Viña Aquitania is a boutique winery with a distinctly French soul and a deep respect for Chilean terroir. Founded by an exceptional group of wine minds, including Bruno Prats of Château Cos d’Estournel, Paul Pontallier of Château Margaux, Chilean winemaker Felipe de Solminihac, and later Ghislain de Montgolfier of Champagne Bollinger, Aquitania brings together Old World experience and New World energy in one of Chile’s most historic wine regions.

The estate was founded in 1990 in Peñalolén, within the Alto Maipo, an area long celebrated for Cabernet Sauvignon. The first vineyards were planted with Bordeaux-origin Cabernet Sauvignon, a natural fit for the region’s warm days, cool Andean influence, and gravelly soils. The winery itself was completed in 1993, allowing Aquitania to focus on small-production wines crafted with precision, elegance, and a strong sense of place.

Today, Viña Aquitania is recognized for wines that balance Chilean fruit purity with a refined, European sensibility. From structured Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon to expressive Chardonnay from Chile’s cooler southern terroirs, the wines favour freshness, finesse, and clarity over excessive weight. Modern equipment is used alongside hands-on, artisanal work, reflecting the winery’s commitment to quality at every stage.
