Sangiovese & Sangiovese Blends
Red Table Wine
Known as the younger, more approachable style of the red wines made in the Montalcino area, this Rosso di Montalcino is a very good example of a wine expressive of the typical ‘rosso’ style. Produced using only Sangiovese di Montalcino grapes and aged in Slavonian oak barrels for eight months, the wine is further aged in bottle for a minimum of one year.
It shows beautifully in the glass with its brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose there is a persistent and intense bouquet of fresh fruit and wild berries. It is well-balanced on the palate, with delicately structured flavours of cherry, plum, and red berries.
“The 2020 Altesino Rosso di Montalcino has a softly sweet, fragrant red fruit nose like strawberries warmed in the sun. On the palate the tannins are elegant and refined. It is a medium-bodied and an accessible, fruity style wine with lots of pleasing cherry and spice flavors and juicy acidity. It has a savory, lingering finish with quite firm tannins. Delicious like a mini-Brunello.” 94 points, Susan Hulme MW, Wine Independent, February 2023
“Lovely balance and freshness to this, showing what Rosso di Montalcino is supposed to be like. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh, creamy-textured finish. Drink or hold.”

“Cedary spice, dried cherries and crushed rocks form an inviting display as the 2020 Rosso di Montalcino opens in the glass. This is a round and forward effort, with lavender-tinged cherry fruit and bright acidity that adds an energetic feel. Lightly structured yet potent, this finishes with admirable length and class. Drink 2023-2026.”
