Sonoma County is blanketed by a tapestry of exceptional vineyards and Angels and Cowboys prides itself on blending exceptional Sonoma fruit sourced from the County’s best growers. The winemaking team tracks down singular lots of fruit that display the subtleties of the Sonoma sub-regions, from Carneros to Sonoma Valley, the refinement of the Russian River Valley to the abundance of flavour found in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys.
Working with Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignane and other robust grape varieties Angels & Cowboys strive to coax richness and depth from the grapes while still retaining an elegant balance of acidity to keep the wine vibrant and fruit driven. Blending is a multi-stage process in the early spring following the vintage with grapes from specific parcels aging separately for 6-10 months prior to blending.
On the nose there is berry compote, blueberry pie, liquorice, brown sugar, and dark cherry all wrapped up with a ribbon of toasty French oak. On the palate the wine is juicy and plush with abundant blackberry, raspberry, plum, and blueberry fruit along with nuances of warm spices and dark chocolate. A lengthy, generous, and decadent finish. Pair against a five-spice duck breast with blackberries.
