A blend from low-yielding hand-picked vines comprising 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and 10% Cinsault. Two thirds is fermented in vats, the balance in two- to four-year-old demi-muids (600 litre oak barrels native to the region).
The wine boasts a deep carmine colour and ripe red fruit aromas with a touch of mineral and vanilla. The palate is generous and full-bodied with silky tannins and an exceptionally well-integrated finish.
“I loved the 2020 Gigondas Tradition Le Grand Montmirail. This classic Gigondas offers up loads of peppery herb, garrigue, chalky mineral, and both red and blue fruits on the nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it’s elegant, has ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It’s already bottled and geared for drinking over the coming 5-7 years or so.”
