The Domaine Brusset ‘La Bastide’ captures the dark, sun-drenched splendour of Rasteau with remarkable depth and refinement. Crafted from Grenache and Mourvèdre grown on low-yielding clay-limestone soils, it opens with seductive aromas of blackberry, black cherry and wild plum, layered with violet, cracked pepper, liquorice and fragrant Provençal herbs. Generous and velvety on the palate, the wine’s concentrated black fruit is framed by rounded tannins, subtle oak and a distinctly mineral backbone.
Fruit is hand-picked from small vineyard plots rooted in clay-limestone soil. Simply de-stemmed and fermented by indigenous yeast, the wine goes through a long, slow fermentation. Ten months is spent unwinding in French oak vats and barrels to knit the complex layers together well.
“This wine evokes the pure pleasure of biting into fresh, juicy black plums and cherries. The structure is beautifully balanced, with round tannins and fresh acidity providing good texture and length. A deeply satisfying expression that rewards every sip.”
