Fruit is hand-picked from small vineyard plots rooted in clay-limestone soil. Simply de-stemmed and fermented by indigenous yeast, the wine goes through a long, slow fermentation. Ten months is spent unwinding in French oak vats and barrels to knit the complex layers together well.
A dark crimson blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre with a complex nose; aromas of blackberries, baking spice, toasty oak, and liquorice carry through to the palate. A dense wine with excellent length, the tannins are present and well-rounded.
“Blackberry jam aromas lead to a palate that has good concentration, dark fruits and dried herbs. It’s balanced by fresh acidity, with a gently warming finish. Savoury, with good length and freshness. It has a texture you can sink your teeth into.”

“Based on 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre and aged 10 months in vats barrels, the 2024 Rasteau La Bastide offers ripe black fruits, cured meats, pepper, and bouquet garni, with ample meaty, gamey, Mourvedre-like undertones It’s medium-bodied and has a nicely balanced profile on the palate, with ripe tannins. It’s a beautifully balanced, has remarkable purity, outstanding length. Drink 2026-2035.”
