Chiquet’s Tradition Premier Cru Brut is a classic Champagne – composed of 40% Pinot Meunier, 35% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir. Representative of its terroir with vineyards around the villages of Hautvillers, Dizy and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. It is a supple Champagne with fine and good length.
Grapes are always harvested by hand and vinified by vineyard parcel in small tanks. Following secondary fermentation, the wine aged on lees in bottle for two to three years prior to disgorging.
The nose is fresh with dried fruit and a hint of citrus. The mousse is fine and the palate is smooth – fresh, balanced with fruity notes of fresh apricot, white peach, citrus, and an aromatic finish.
“Notes of tart apple and tarte tatin combine in this classical Marne Valley wine. It’s mostly red grapes (65 percent), bringing flavors of sour cherry and cherry pit. This is fresh, with a sculptural beauty to its texture that lends the feeling of polished stone.” 92 points, Wine & Spirits, December 2020
“Lacy in texture, this leesy version offers notes of pastry cream, bread dough, oyster shell and poached apricot, layered with sleek acidity and a chalky underpinning. A rich but balanced style. Disgorged July 2018. Drink now through 2022.” 92 points, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, December 2019
“A golden yellow hue, the NV Champagne Tradition Premier Cru Brut is packed with yeasty aromas of fresh bread dough, golden peach, chamomile, and ginger. A youthful and fluffy mousse fills the palate, and the wine leans toward a full-bodied style, revealing a rich texture as the mousse settles down, with a well-balanced and broad-shouldered mid-palate and finish.”
