Chanson

Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. A sunny Terroir which benefits from an ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard. A plot of 2 hectares on the upper side of the hill is planted with Chardonnay on a limestone subsoil covered with sand.

Chanson’s “Clos des Mouches” is lush, powerful and complex, with lingering notes of honey, clove and Meyer lemon. It is our only Chanson on offer that is available immediately. With Burgundy in such limited supply, this special 1er Cru is not to be missed.

“Chanson have 4.5 hectares of Clos des Mouches, and this comes from a 2 hectare plot with sandy limestone soils. Taut, linear and finely spiced with good acidity and great purity. Bright and focused, this has lightness but also intensity.”
94 points, Jamie Goode, Wine Anorak, December 2021

“Rich, citrusy, and intense aroma. Fruity, juicy, up-front attack. So succulent. Splashing and juicy and zesty. Very appetizing. It finishes on more tension and sweet minerality. Sweet and salty. 2024–32.”
93 points, Sarah Marsh, World of Fine Wines, January 2022

“The 2020 Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose, quite malic with Granny Smith apples, dewy meadow and light limestone scents. The palate is well balanced with good concentration matched by a fine line of acidity. One of Chanson’s spiciest ‘20s, this vein of stem ginger prolongs the finish and delivers sufficient sapidity to tempt you back for another sip. Closure: Diam”
91-93 points, Neal Martin, December 2021
