Located in the Côte de Nuits, these grapes stem from a selected plot in the northern part of appellation which are located mid slope and border the Premiers Crus. The hand-harvested grapes are whole bunch fermented for approximately two weeks and are then aged in Chanson’s 15th century cellar for a period between 14 and 18 months, seeing a moderate use of new oak.
Showing deep ruby garnet in the glass, this is a wine which shows a mix of delicate floral fragrances with red cherry, plum and vanilla. Crunchy, deep and dense with an outstanding aromatic complexity and well-integrated tannins. A dense and mouth-coating texture gives way to a long and elegant finish.
“Big black cherries, but not at all loud. The generous tannins give it good backbone but there’s no trace of hardness. And there’s a lovely core of sweet black cherries. A large bottling from a 4.5-hectare plot in Gevrey. Drink on release.”
