Since its creation by Aimée and Hubert Brochard in 1900, Domaine Hubert Brochard has been committed to producing wines representative of the diversity of the Sancerre terroirs. The Domaine is now run by the fifth and sixth generation.
Domaine Hubert Brochard produces classically styled Sancerre — crisp and dry. The distinctive gooseberry and nettle aromas, with grassy citrus flavours and stony, flinty character make for some of the most easily recognizable wines in France. Three soil types lay the foundation for the aromatic white wine: chalk, limestone-gravel and flint. These soils, combined with the cool climate create wines of intense purity and bracing acidity. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks. The perfect expression of Sancerre.
“Brochard’s Terres Blanches Sancerre comes from hand-harvested vines on clay-limestone soils, aged on lees for over four months with 100% maturation in stainless-steel tanks. Annual production is around 120,000 bottles. Despite its modest 12.5% alcohol, this has more of a New World feel with a riper, richer texture on the palate. Less floral, plenty of focus and acidity to keep the palate fresh, but it doesn’t quite have the refinement of the Caillottes.”

“There’s plenty of aromatic charm to this supple, medium-bodied version. Celery seed and fresh-cut chive notes infuse a base of melon and white cherry, with meadow blossom high tones. Offers gentle earthiness on a chalky palate, with white tea tannins and a jolt of acidity cleaning up the finish. Drink now through 2029.”
