Cocci Grifoni is one of the benchmark estates of the Piceno zone in southern Marche, a family-run winery long associated with reviving and championing the native grape Pecorino and preserving the region’s historic vineyard identity.
This wine comes from Offida DOCG in Marche, on Italy’s Adriatic side, an appellation elevated from DOC to DOCG in 2011 and now recognized as one of the leading homes for structured, age-worthy Pecorino.
Colle Vecchio 2024 is made from 100% Pecorino. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and aromatics. This white wine is dry with striking acidity, full body, and complex. In the glass, expect ripe pear, white flowers, broom, hints of lemongrass and sage, with a fresh, layered palate that balances richness with mineral lift and energy.
This is an excellent match for grilled seafood, lemon-herb roast chicken, or richer shellfish dishes.
“Pale straw yellow with golden reflections. An animatingly fresh nose, peach and pear with green apple, slightly minty, reminiscent of ice candy. Somewhat savoury sage. The palate remains fruit-dominated with a lively acidity. Pleasant with good drinking flow. Medium length.”
