Dashe Cellars Zinfandel Vineyard Select is a blend of a few small-production vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma County), Contra Costa County, and Clarksburg California. This is a remarkably lush, drinkable Zinfandel that has been blended with a few “spice rack” varietals to add depth, spice and texture to the wine. Made primarily of Zinfandel, there is also Teroldego and Petite Sirah in the blend which together create a juicy, rich, mouth-filling wine that shows round texture and a long, spicy finish.
Each varietal of the wine is fermented separately, using the native yeasts resident on the grape skins. The wine is then aged for a total of 14 months in French oak barrels – 100% of which were 1-year or older.
On the nose you’ll get aromatic pomegranate, black cherry, and raspberry, mixed with hints of cassis, chocolate, and slight peppery spice. Lush, lively texture on the palate with more black cherry and pomegranate fruit, bright acidity to balance the sweet fruit flavours, black pepper and clove spice, and a long finish that resonates with hints of liquorice and cocoa powder.
