Baumard owns 15 acres of the 110-acre Quarts de Chaume vineyard in Anjou, where vines grow on steep, exposed terraces along the southeastern Layon River. In 2011, Quarts de Chaume was recognized as the first official “Grand Cru” of the Loire Valley.
Baumard’s Quarts de Chaume is arguably the greatest wine of the Loire. It has a rare elegance and texture that balance an equally impressive richness and cleansing acidity.
“Waves of creamed Jonagold apple, Cavaillon melon, mirabelle plum, mango and white peach flavors provide thrilling range, while flashes of honeysuckle and verbena add detail and focus throughout. Unctuous yet pure, sweet yet invigorating, with an inner brightness that matches the outward hedonism. Best from 2020 through 2045.”
