Domaine des Perdrix

Domaine des Perdrix is one of the Côte de Nuits most polished historic estates, but its modern rise began when the Devillard family took over in 1996, investing heavily in both the vineyards and winery. Today, the Domaine is known for its holdings in some of Burgundy’s finest terroirs and for crafting wines that balance refinement with structure.

Aux Perdrix is among the most esteemed Premier Cru sites in the southern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges, planted on a south-east-facing slope of limestone and clay, with the Domaine owning 99% of the vineyard. The 3.4 hectare vineyard was planted between 1922 and 1955, which helps give the wine its depth, structure, and distinctly noble Côte de Nuits character.

The Domaine des Perdrix Nuit-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Perdrix 2023 is made from 100% Pinot Noir, de-stemmed and fermented for 15 days using native yeasts, with daily punch downs of the cap to extract colour, tannin and aromatics. The wine is aged for 12 months in 100% French oak barriques (20% new) with an additional 6 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. Offering the concentration and authority typical of this cru, with a profile built around dark cherry, blackcurrant, spice, rose, and subtle earthy complexity. The palate is generous yet refined, with silky tannins, fresh underlying tension, and a long, harmonious finish that suggests both immediate charm and strong cellaring potential.

Pair it with duck breast, roast lamb, beef bourguignon, or mushroom-based dishes

“A slightly spicier nose somewhat grudgingly reveals its ripe dark berry fruit, poached plum, just turned earth and violet scents. There is slightly better volume and mid-palate density to the middle weight flavors where the moderately firm supporting tannins are slightly finer, all wrapped in a lingering finish that is also youthfully austere, worth considering.”

“This is rich and saturated with cherry, raspberry and plum notes, plus savory, woodsy underbrush accents. Ends with a firm grip of tannins and a lingering licorice detail. Best from 2029 through 2043. 50 cases imported.”
93 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, February 2026
