Domaine Gautherin

Founded in 1585, Domaine Raoul Gautherin et Fils is one of the oldest family-run estates in Chablis, passed down from father to son for over four centuries. The estate combines generations of tradition with modern precision, producing wines rooted in the region’s iconic Kimmeridgian limestone soils. Their Mont de Milieu 1er Cru vineyard lies on the prized right bank of the Serein River, home to Chablis’ Grand Crus, where optimal sun exposure and chalky soils yield wines of structure, finesse, and striking minerality.

The Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru is vinified in stainless steel to preserve its purity and clarity. It opens with lifted aromas of lemon peel, crushed shell, white flowers, and flint. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and linear, with precise citrus and orchard fruit layered over a firm mineral core. A touch of salinity and chalk rounds out the palate, leading to a long, focused finish that reflects its sun-soaked slope and limestone-rich terroir.

Its bright acidity and stony backbone make it a brilliant pairing for classic seafood dishes such as oysters, clams, and grilled prawns, this Premier Cru also complements richer fare like lobster risotto, roast chicken with tarragon, or aged goat cheese.

“Aromas of fresh citrus, green pears, tangerine flesh, wild yellow flowers, white tea leaf and flaky white salt linger in the glass. The palate is intense, boasting flavors of fresh citrus and hay accompanied by a long stone finish. Brilliant acidity adds complexity and a lengthy finish.”
