Tavel – instantly recognizable by its electric pink colour. Tavel AOC is entirely dedicated to rosé wines, that are cherished for their structure, body and ability to age. When compared to pale, Provençal-style rosé, Tavel wines showcase more grip, and often have tannins. This makes them the perfect choice for enjoying with dinner, all year long.
Domaine “Les Hautes Roches” (The High Rocks) comes from Cellier des Chartreux in the southern Rhône. This is a gorgeous example of Tavel rosé, showcasing vibrant fruit and minerality. Grapes are cold macerated for 24-48 hours, extracting lovely fresh fruit flavours and aromas, as well as the stunning pink grapefruit colour.
Mouthwatering notes of raspberries, wild strawberry and watermelon introduce this joyously fruity 70–30 blend of Grenache and Syrah. It’s a scintillating, primary expression of Tavel that maintains an elegant mineral undertow and a fine fringe of tannins that lingers on the finish. At peak now, the wine should hold nicely through 2021.
