Founded in Chavignol in 1900, Domaine Hubert Brochard has been rooted in Sancerre for more than a century, building its reputation on expressing the diversity of the appellation’s soils and villages through precise, terroir-driven wines. The estate remains closely tied to its family history, even as it entered a new chapter under the Bollinger family group in 2022.
Sancerre Rouge is one of the Loire Valley’s most distinctive expressions of Pinot Noir, and this 2023 comes from clay-limestone parcels in Chavignol, Ménétréol and Amigny. Those calcareous soils help give the wine its signature brightness, finesse, and savory mineral edge, offering a red-fruited style that feels both supple and lifted.
The 2023 is made from hand-harvested Pinot Noir, fully destemmed and vinified in stainless steel, with a long maceration of roughly 25 to 28 days and gentle extraction. It is then aged for seven to eight months in stainless steel vats, preserving freshness and purity. In the glass, expect crunchy cherry and red berry fruit, subtle spice, soft tannins, and a lively, elegant finish shaped more by energy and finesse than weight.
For pairing, serve it lightly cool with duck breast, roast chicken, grilled salmon, or mushroom dishes
