Côtes du Rhône is the Chameleon of French wine, readily adapting its profile to the terroir in which it was grown. “Les Sérines” is made from Syrah from the vineyards on the Côte Rôtie with a touch of Grenache. Such distinguished origin all but assures a complex and compelling wine.
The full-bodied palate is packed with concentrated flavours, earthy spice, and mouth-filling tannins.
“Classy and also sturdy Côtes du Rhône as engaging as it is firm and forthright. Fruit, meatiness, earthy character and grip are all on point, layered and deft. Dark fruit yet stony, airy enough and lifted as needed. Meaty as well, like rare beef and really just about as clever and also haute as it gets for the appellation. Will no doubt age like a Vacqueyras or even Gigondas. Drink 2023-2028. Tasted July 2023.”
