Sheltered by Montsant and Molló, the roots of the Mas Doix vineyards delve deep into the llicorella slate soils that makes the Priorat unique. Being in Poboleda, the cool part of the Priorat, the vines benefit for a Mediterranean climate with a great oscillation in daytime and nighttime temperatures. This microclimate favors a slower ripening and a later harvest.
Made predominantly from low-yielding Grenache Blanc that was planted shortly after the winery was established, “Murmuri” is an unoaked white that showcases the purity of the fruit and terroir. This was the first white wine to be made at Mas Doix and is characterized by intense aromatics of white flowers and fennel. These are met on the palate by a vivacious acidity. Lush and juicy peach, nectarine, pear and pineapple on the palate. It is elegant and silky with significant aging potential.
A flavourful and fresh wine, the Murmuri pairs perfectly with a main course such as lemon garlic roasted chicken, or cajun grilled snapper. Also a fantastic partner for creamy cheese courses, such as brie or camembert.
“The very young white 2024 Murmuri was produced with 90% Garnacha Blanca and 10% Macabeo from Poboleda and La Morera de Montsant. It was pressed in a pneumatic press, then the juice fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and without malolactic. Then it was kept with lees and had weekly bâtonnage for three months. It’s far too young and undeveloped, with notes of balsam and a medicinal twist. It has a tender palate with some balsamic flavors and integrated acidity, more expressive than the nose. It has contained ripeness and 13% alcohol and comes through as fresh and balanced. Wait a bit. 2,956 bottles were produced in an extremely low-yielding year. It was bottled in February 2025.”
