Nestled at the summit of a picturesque hill, just a stone’s throw away from the charming village of Auxey-Duresses, this exceptional wine embodies the epitome of elegance and craftsmanship.
Crafted with utmost care, the wine of undergos a meticulous process that includes malolactic fermentation, lees stirring, and barrel aging. This delicate combination, with typically 20-30% new oak, imparts a touch of opulence and richness, setting it apart from the current trends observed in the renowned appellations of the region.
This wine presents a beautiful aromatic intensity, with notes of white citrus fruits, almond, hazelnut, apple. On the palate, it maintains a balance between smoothness and freshness.
“From 45 year old vines. Gleaming lemon and lime colour. This hasn’t been fined yet, after which the depth of colour will dissipate. Lower Vireuils. Starts quietly but develops a superb wealth of fruit yet with a hillside energy and just a little barrel toast, which the fining will clean up. Very long finish here though. Very good.” 90-92 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, November 2019
