Paul Hobbs’s Napa Valley Cabernet delivers exceptional depth by sourcing fruit some of the Valley’s best vineyards: Nathan Coombs Estate, State Lane, and Flat Rock.
Produced using hand-harvested fruit, picked at night when the berries are cool, Hobbs’s Napa Cabernet is a showcase for some of the valley’s best vineyards. Following a five-day maceration, the wine was fermented by native yeast in open-top stainless steel tanks. It went through spontaneous malolactic fermentation after being racked to barrels. Following 20 months maturation in French and American oak (roughly two thirds new), the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This is a stately Cab, deep crimson in colour with a luxurious perfumed nose: red currant, boysenberry, cedar, and herbes de Provence. The palate introduces layers of cassis, graphite, blueberry, and sage. Seamless, velvety tannins frame a long, elegant finish.
“A solid cabernet with currants and berries, blue fruit and lavender. Medium-to full-bodied, solid and beautiful. Creamy and very long. Give it a year or so. Try after 2021.”

“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a gorgeous, racy wine that captures all the best the vintage has to offer within its peer group. Juicy red and purplish berry fruit, lavender and mint give the 2017 striking freshness and nuance to match its mid-weight personality. This is such a pretty and accessible wine. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade or so.”
