Founded in 1970, this Willamette Valley winery exudes the spirit of adventure and passion for winemaking that first inspired Dick and Nancy Ponzi. Now, led by winemaker Luisa Ponzi and Former President, Anna Maria Ponzi, carry on the practices that have set the bar for Oregon and brought Ponzi to the forefront of the nation’s top wine producers.
Groupe Bollinger acquired Ponzi Vineyards in 2021, their first property outside of France. The winery is LIVE Certified Sustainable, the world’s highest standard for sustainable viticulture and enology.
The Ponzi Laurelwood District Pinot Noir is a classic expression of Oregon Pinot noir featuring nuances and flavours that are a hallmark of the region’s varied soils and cool climate — ripe blueberry, raspberry and blackberry, floral aromas of lavender and dried rose petal, hints of black pepper and nutmeg. Ponzi’s most established vineyards provide the base which is then blended with Pinot Noir from throughout the Laurelwood District AVA.
“The 2021 Pinot Noir Laurelwood District has a pale ruby-purple color and slowly unfolding aromas of cranberries, tangerine peel, pipe tobacco and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is powerful and generous with concentrated fruit, grainy tannins, plenty of refreshing acidity and a long, spicy finish.”
