The Produttori co-operative manages some 250 acres of premium Nebbiolo estate-owned vineyards in Barbaresco. Each of the fifty families intimately cares for and famrs their land, growing Nebbiolo grapes with centuries-old skill.
The Muncagota vineyard faces southeast, receiving cooler morning sun rather than intense afternoon sun. As a result, the Muncagota vineyard exhibits beautiful floral characteristics and often a distinct minty character on the nose. The chalky soil and low sand content give Muncagota wines extremely concentrated flavours and powerful, refined tannins. The red fruit and violet aromas are elegant and intense, making this Barbaresco one of the most interesting wines in the Produttori del Barbaresco portfolio.
Perfect with nduja on fresh bread or rich, wild boar ravioli.
“The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota comes across as somewhat austere today, which is pretty atypical. Floral, mint and white pepper lend notable aromatic brilliance. Deceptively medium in body, the 2020 offers plenty of drive. Floral, savory and mineral notes extend the intense, saline finish. I am curious to taste this again with more time in bottle.”

“The Produttori del Barbaresco 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota is quite powerful and ample but not fully integrated as of yet. This vineyard site is located in a warm growing area, and you do feel the heat of the vintage in terms of the ripeness of the bouquet and the softness of the tannins. This wine paints with broad brush strokes, offering blackberry, plum and spice. It needs another year or two to find better focus.”
