Founded in 2008 by the presidents of Cantine Ermes, one of Sicily’s largest wine cooperatives, and the Orestiadi Foundation, Tenute Orestiadi is a testament to passion, dedication and deep understanding of the terroir. This understanding of the particular micro-climates and the varied soils and altitudes of the area results in wines that showcase the distinctive qualities of the Belìce Valley.
Here, white clay present in the hills is characterized by a high component of limestone and gypsum and ideal for the cultivation of indigenous white varietals such as Grillo. In order to preserve the maximum amount of natural flavour, the hand harvested grapes undergo 8 hours of cold skin contact prior to light pressing and maceration.
The nose, delicate and elegant, whispers of white flowers and citrus of the Mediterranean. The palate, rich in minerality and bright acidity, reflects this same elegance. The finish is savoury and light, proving an uplifting and refreshing experience.
“From Orestiadi’s “Molino A Vento” line of Sicilian whites, reds and pinks, here with the local grillo for a simple, sharp and selectively seductive wine. No varietal (or island) showiness or embellishment, just the lemony and yellow floral facts. Not particularly expressive of grillo’s top abilities but everything falls easily and comfortably into place. Drink 2025-2027. Tasted July 2025.”
