Viña Aquitania is a boutique Chilean estate with serious Bordeaux pedigree, founded by Bruno Prats of Château Cos d’Estournel, Paul Pontallier of Château Margaux, and Chilean winemaker Felipe de Solminihac. Set in Peñalolén at the foot of the Andes, in the historic heart of the Maipo Valley, the winery has built its reputation on elegant, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon with a distinctly Chilean sense of freshness and mountain-grown precision.
Lazuli Cabernet Sauvignon is the estate’s flagship expression: refined, structured, and deeply expressive. It opens with ripe red and black fruit, cassis, plum, dried fig and sweet spice, layered with notes of mocha, tobacco, cedar and subtle herbs. The palate is polished and harmonious, with soft, rounded tannins, impressive depth, and a long, savoury finish. Elegant rather than overblown, this is a beautifully balanced Maipo Cabernet that brings together Bordeaux finesse and Chilean intensity.
A superb match for grilled steak, lamb, braised short ribs, roasted mushrooms, or aged hard cheeses.
“Sourced from the estate’s lower parcels and blended with 6% Merlot, the 2022 Lazuli offers a textbook representation of Alto Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon, bounding from the glass with the distinctly botanical, herbal signature endemic to this region. The mouthfeel is considerably more sumptuous and caressing than the introductory wines, flowing with palpable finesse into a long, slowly unfolding finish propelled by vibrant acidity, velvety tannins and chocolaty undertones. This is an impressive wine of classically informed proportions rendered with precision and restraint.”
