Carl Loewen is the benchmark of Mosel wines. His light Rieslings are full of character. Loewen’s philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking, orientates itself towards the traditional winemaking, which he interprets in a contemporary way which gracefully showcases high-class terroir grapes.
The grapes mature until October, allowing the fruit to ripen fully. The cold weather during late harvest keeps the must at low temperatures, at which the spontaneous fermentation would carry out for weeks. The Quant wine retains a small and natural amount of sugar and shows wonderful harmony alongside a dry taste impression. The elegance and fruit of this wine is compelling.
“A joyful Mosel riesling that’s got so much charm that it’s difficult not be enticed by the yellow-apple, white-peach and herbal aromas. Spot-on balance, in the zone that some will say is easily dry enough, while others will notice the hint of unfermented grape sweetness. Long, crisp finish with a slatey touch.”
