Zardetto’s vineyards are located on the steep slopes of the eastern part of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG, close to the villages of Feletto, Ogliano, and Carpesica. Forty years ago, winery founder Pino Zardetto christened the first wine he produced “Refosso”. The name refers to the moat that surrounds the 14th century city of Conegliano, an homage to his city, but also to the water, a fundamental part of life and community. The Conegliano’s refosso was important to the local people and culture, just like the region’s renowned Prosecco.
Zardetto’s Glera (the signature Prosecco varietal) is hand-harvested in early September. The finished wine is a celebration of the hilly Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG.
Fresh and energetic, Refosso opens with crisp green apple, ripe pear and bright citrus, joined by delicate floral and herbal notes. Fine, persistent bubbles carry its juicy fruit across the palate.
“A crunchy sparkling, refreshing and bright with aromas of green apples and star anise. It’s medium-bodied with fresh acidity and fine bubbles. Round and balanced with a vivid finish. Drink now.”
