LCBO Vintages Release
Winemaker Rodrigo Soto leads the production of Primus wines. He works closely with Álvaro Espinoza, pioneer in organic and biodynamic practices in Chile. “The Blend” is composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 23% Carmenere, 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc from the well-drained clay-loam soils and Mediterranean climate of Apalta and Marchigüe, in central Chile. The finished wine spends 12 months in French oak, 20% new.
This is an expressive blend that combines the potential of each terroir for each variety: Cabernet provides structure, while Carmenere adds spice that combine with the freshness and red fruit of the merlot. The finely tuned blend achieves a balanced, elegant wine with soft tannins and a lingering finish.
“This no longer includes any Syrah, so is now a five-way blend of Bordeaux grapes dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s another classy wine from Rodrigo Soto, with polished tannins, notes of graphite and green pepper and a dense, subtly oaked finish.”

“A firm and slightly chewy wine with light currant and berry character. Medium body, savory fruit and a fresh finish. Slightly austere. A cabernet sauvignon and carmenere based blend with a dash or petit verdot, merlot and cab franc.”
