LCBO Vintages Release
Winemaker Rodrigo Soto leads the production of Primus wines. He works closely with Álvaro Espinoza, pioneer in organic and biodynamic practices in Chile. “The Blend” is composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 23% Carmenere, 10% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc from the well-drained clay-loam soils and Mediterranean climate of Apalta and Marchigüe, in central Chile. The finished wine spends 12 months in French oak, 20% new.
This is an expressive blend that combines the potential of each terroir for each variety: Cabernet provides structure, while Carmenere adds spice that combine with the freshness and red fruit of the merlot. The finely tuned blend achieves a balanced, elegant wine with soft tannins and a lingering finish.
“This superb Bordeaux blend is a cuvée of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot with a little Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for company. Elegant, seamless and smooth, with textured tannins, aromatic oak and layers of grassy, dark berry fruit. 2018-27.”

“A generous and rich red with round and chewy tannins. So much lovely ripe fruit with currant and hints of walnut character. Full and beautiful. Gorgeous wine. 40% cabernet, 25% merlot, 24% carmenere, 8% petit verdot and the rest cab franc. Drink or hold.”
